Ibiza is the world renowned party capital and is home to some of the world's most famous night clubs where celebrity DJs are born each year. The Island is host to the competition for the "World's Best DJ" and it is this competition that brings the revellers, the celebrities, the partygoers and the talented DJs. The iconic nightclubs are the platforms that play host for these huge parties.
However Ibiza presents two very different faces as it also an Idyllic Island Paradise showcasing powdery white beaches, warm clear waters, hidden coves and bays, historic villages and monuments, forts and castles. The local villages thrive with local markets showcasing local product, art and crafts, restaurants boast local cuisines and fine wines, strong coffees and fresh seafood's. The Spanish are a charming and friendly nation who adore and respect their families as much as they like to celebrate their many festivals through song and dance.

Amnesia is perhaps the oldest club on the Island and boasts decades of history of revelling and partying originating in the hippie era, the house where Amnesia now stands was built at the end of the 18th century. It was sold to an aristocratic and artistic widow in the 70s and it became a home to hippies who played in local bands and danced till dawn while experimenting with LSD and "touching the heavens", according to the legend celebrated on the Amnesia web site.
In 1975 Spain's long ruling dictator Franco died a year later the new tenant Antonio Escohotado turned the ancient house into a discotheque and christened it "Amnesia". The club is found half way between Ibiza and San Antonio on the main road, on the opposite side of the highway from the village of San Rafael. The Club was originally an open air space but has now been enclosed and offers excellent acoustic qualities. The Terrace is a huge greenhouse with palm trees, many bars and pleasantly air conditioned VIP area which encircles the club on the upper floor.
The floor below is cooled by two massive "ice cannons" blasting cold air fir off at regular intervals. Amnesia is the canvas for Espuma parties at which life threatening quantities of foam are pumped onto the dance floor in the main room. Show dancers bounce around on podiums on the upstairs floor, level with the D booth which looks down on the writhing masses below. Boulder-sized stacks of speakers litter the floor and are surrounded by enthusiastic ravers.
Amnesia has been home to the hugely successful Manumission club night since mid August 2007. Another successful club night is Cream, one of the longest-running UK nights on the island. Club Cocoon, promoted by the veteran DJ and producer, German Sven Väth, is another popular night.
Amnesia was awarded Best Global Club in 2007, International Dance Music Awards for 2006; it is an extensive club that can house up to 5,000 people on the dance floor. Amnesia was the first major outdoor club on the Island; its previously open air terrace still allows the morning sunlight to flood in and is famous for its sunrise dance floor and the start of a whole new day.
Amnesia is a Party haven attracting the rich and the famous, the trendsetters and the music fundis, the young hip crowd and the seriously cool and chic. It offers parties from dark till light characterised with a thousand different sounds, lights, ambiences and colours it is vibrant, moody and electric and above all addictive.
