There are many places in the world which are defined by their world class nightlife. Most of them are the world's great cities like London, Chicago, or New York. Few however can combine the ultimate clubbing experiences with sunshine days and beautiful beaches and none can combine them both like Ibiza. Ibiza is a paradise island to all who welcome the distinctly creative and laid back ambience of an island in which the possibilities for social interaction are endless.

Ibiza is the smallest of three main Balearic Islands. Forming an autonomous province of Spain, the Balearics to most people are Mallorca, Menorca, and Ibiza, and while they all offer the kind of nightlife associated with renowned sunshine holiday destinations it is Ibiza which has firmly established itself as the nightclub capital of the Balearics, of Spain, and indeed Europe.

A combination of factors make Ibiza such a great place for nightlife. Firstly there is the warm climate, nestled in the Mediterranean sea, off the northern coast of Spain, perfect for beautiful sunsets and welcoming sunrises, and all set to music. Sunny days and beautiful locations make for the ideal counterweight to the nightlife and both balance seamlessly into one unforgettable adventure.

Then there is the unique Ibecencan culture, one which initially drew hippies to the island searching for a more relaxed and creative means of self expression. The hippie days of the 60s are gone but the influence remains on the island, from the hippie markets held in the resort of Es Cana, to the warmth of Ibiza hospitality extended to anyone who respects it.

The beach life and warm hospitality form the backdrop to the final part of the Ibiza nightclub story which is the vibrant town communities, in which social life is very much a part of the culture. Ibiza beach cafes are legendary and the opportunities for dining are endless, forming an essential and progressive social scene which has developed naturally.

There are many different types of Ibiza nightclub, catering for a whole variety of tastes, clientele and styles. There are clubs dedicated to certain styles of traditional music such as blues and jazz. There are also karaoke clubs, casinos, gay clubs, fetish clubs, and many, many more. Some clubs are little more than bars with a dance floor and others are majestic statements to hedonism. The key with Ibiza nightclubs is that if you can think of a way to spend some excellent leisure time of an evening then there is a club to suit.

While the main towns of Ibiza Town and San Antonio certainly hold the most nightlife venues there are Ibiza nightclubs found throughout the island in the main resorts. Close to the hippies favorite resort Es Cana, is Santa Eulalia, the main family resort in Ibiza. A host of hotels cater for holidaymakers and many have nightclubs incorporated within extended resorts. There are also plenty of opportunities within the town for clubbing and celebrating into the small hours.

Of course when most people think of Ibiza and nightclubs they have only one vision, that of the world’s most famous clubs in full flow. Since the 90s, Ibiza has been a world centre for electronic and ambient music, attracting superstar DJs and keen clubbers from far and wide to share in the ultimate clubbing experience.

The most famous Ibiza nightclubs are located in Ibiza town and San Antonio. By day the towns are alive with possibilities for shopping, dining, and sightseeing and by night host many 1000s of clubbers who expect and receive the best clubbing experience available anywhere. While the main clubbing season is during the summer months, the islands most famous club Pacha, in Ibiza Town, is open all year round and incorporates a full range of entertainment and leisure options. With 15 bars, open-air garden terraces, a restaurant and sushi bar, Pacha continues to push the boundaries in what makes a world superclub.

Pacha may be the most famous but it is not the largest Ibiza nightclub. That honor goes to Privilege, which with a capacity for 10,000 revelers is the largest club not only in Ibiza, but the world. Privilege is Ibiza at its most creative and flamboyant best, offering a bewildering array of entertainment incorporating swimming pools, indoor gardens, circus performers and so much more.

Another notable Ibiza nightclub is El Paradis, a club which occupies a spectacular pyramid structure, and hosts 9 bars, and a dance floor which transforms into a swimming pool. El Paradis overlooks San Antonio Bay and the swimming feature is extended in another San Antonio club, Eden. The most recent superclub addition to Ibiza, Eden is quickly establishing itself as a firm favorite through its foam parties and summer holiday party atmosphere.

Further notable Ibiza nightclubs include Amnesia, famous for its dry ice laser shows, and El Divino, located in the Ibiza Marina and reached by a free ferry service from San Antonio. El Divino is an upmarket clubbing experience, popular with the Ibiza yachting set. Another club, Space, near Ibiza Town opens at 6am, allowing clubbers to continue into the afternoon.

While the music scene in Ibiza is mostly associated with its most famous clubs, the bar and café scene form an integral part of the musical and cultural backdrop to any Ibiza holiday. Music and art are all around and exemplify the essential spirit of Ibiza, one in which it is hard not to feel a part.
